* Arrival Transfers: Flights must arrive between 0800 and 1500 on the day that the cruise departs in order to receive airport to ship transfers. These transfers are group transfers and passengers may experience a waiting period between transfers. Passengers will need to make their way to the meet and greet area where they will be met by a representative holding a TRAFALGAR UNIWORLD sign. Passengers arriving outside these times will need to make their own arrangements or purchase a private transfer. * Departure Transfers: Flights must depart between 0800 and 1400 on the day that the cruise ends in order to receive the ship to airport transfer. Day 1 - Arrive St. Petersburg Complimentary transfers to your floating hotel. Rest or spend your time at leisure – relax, get acquainted with the ship and the cruise staff, meet your fellow passengers.
Day 2 - St. Petersburg This morning, you’ll arrive in one of the loveliest of Russian cities. After breakfast, disembark for a tour of this fabled city of canals and Northern Lights. Drive along Nevsky Prospect. Explore the Palace Square. See the spectacular St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Bronze Horseman, the Admiralty Tower, the sinister Peter and Paul Fortress, the Bastille of Czarist Russia. The afternoon is free.
Day 3 - Moscow Start your day with an excursion to Pushkin for a visit to the spectacular Baroque Catherine Palace, a fine example of a royal country residence. Visit the extravagant palace and stroll through the park with its numerous pavilions, ponds and sculptures. The afternoon is at your leisure in St. Petersburg. This evening, enjoy a performance by dancers, singers and musicians representing Cossack culture.
Day 4 - St. Petersburg You will spend the morning exploring one of the greatest treasure houses in the world, the famous Hermitage Museum, which is located in the former Czar’s Winter Palace. In the afternoon you have a chance to explore Peter the Great’s magnificent city at your leisure.
Day 5 - St. Petersburg Visit the site where the Bolshevik Revolution began, the infamous Battleship Aurora. Also visit the historic Alexander Nevsky Monastery, found by Peter the Great in the 18th century. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and a gala dinner onboard.
Day 6 - Mandrogi Cruise through the 139-mile Svir River. Stop for a few hours in the reconstructed traditional Russian village of Mandrogi located on the shore of the Svir River. The village was completely ruined during WWII and disappeared from maps for long years. Enjoy Shashlick picnic this afternoon.
Day 7 - Kizhi Island and Lake Onega Cruise through Lake Onega, the second largest lake in Europe and one of the world’s purest. In the afternoon, arrive on enchanting Kizhi Island and visit the magnificent Church of the Transfiguration. Its 22 shimmering domes in three tiers are the ultimate in Russian fairytale architecture.
Day 8 - Goritsy Enjoy breathtaking scenery as you sail north through White Lake, once known as the “Czar’s fishing grounds,” and through the Volga-Baltic Canal. Arrive in Goritsy, a peaceful farming community, for a tour ashore and a visit to the well preserved, fortress-like, Kiril Belosersk Monastery. In the afternoon, continue northward.
Day 9 - Yaroslavl Discover beautiful, tree-lined Yaroslavl, another Golden Ring city, founded in 1010 by Grand Prince Yaroslavl, the Wise of Kiev. You’ll see several buildings that rank among the world’s greatest in architecture. Plus, the 12th century Transfiguration Monastery where “The Lay of Igor’s Host,” one of Russia’s greatest literary treasures, was discovered. Enjoy a performance by a local folklore ensemble before the cruise continues on through the vast Rybinsk Lake.
Day 10 - Kostroma Arrive in Kostroma this morning. During your tour of this beautiful Medieval city, see the golden-domed Ipatievsky Monastery and the ancestral home of the Romanov dynasty.
Day 11 - Uglich Cruise along the Volga, Europe’s longest river. After breakfast, arrive in Uglich. Founded in 1148, Uglich is infamous as the site of the mysterious death of Ivan the Terrible’s son, Dimitry. The town hosts a commemorative church – the Church of St. Dimitry on the Blood – where the body was found. Enjoy Home-hosted Brunch and the Captain's gala farwell dinner.
Day 12 - Moscow Sail through the spectacular Moscow Canal, which connects to the Volga River. City tour highlights include the major sights of Moscow: Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the view of Moscow from the Lenin Hills. The afternoon is free.
Day 13 - Moscow Visit to the Kremlin, the Armory Museum and three of the most important cathedrals in all of Russia – the Assumption, the Annunciation with its nine golden domes, and St. Michael’s the Archangel. Inside the Armory, are imperial carriages and the renowned Fabergé eggs. In the evening, attend a performance of the Moscow State Circus?
Day 14 - Moscow Explore this intriguing city on your own.
Day 15 - Depart St. Petersburg Today, your fascinating Grand Cruise through Russia comes to an end. It is time to say goodbye and fly home with a lifetime of memories and new friends.
