Visit other historic points of interest including the Opera, Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame de Paris, whose construction began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII, and a monument considered by many the finest example of French Gothic architecture. DAY 3, Mon Arrive this morning in Les Andelys, a commune set in one of the Seine River loops. You may choose to explore the 12th century medieval ruins of Chateau-Gaillard Castle, the churches of Notre-Dame and Saint Sauveur, and the Nicholas Poussin Museum, which features an array of antiques, rare glassware and a masterful 4th century Gallo-Roman mosaic. DAY 4, Tues Arrive in Caudebec-en-Caux in the morning. DAY 5, Wed Spend the morning at leisure in Caudebec-en-Caux. Enjoy lunch on board before departing in the early afternoon for the city of Rouen, site of the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral, with its Tour de Beurre (Butter Tower). DAY 6, Thurs Enjoy a full-day at leisure in Rouen, the capital of Normandy. This fascinating city is home to the St. Maclou Church, a Flamboyant Gothic structure, famous for its five portals and 16th century wood door reliefs. Other historic sites include the Place du Vieux-Marché, where the French heroine Joan of Arc was burned in 1431, the Palais de Justice (Law Courts), St. Ouen's Abbey, the 16th century Gros-Horloge (Great Clock), the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics, home to a unique collection of faience (glazed earthenware) and porcelain, and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame (B, L, D): CRUISE
DAY 7, Fri This morning, explore Vernon independently. The charming Norman villages of Vernon and Giverny are best known as the inspiration for the French impressionist Claude Monet. Some of the villages main sites are the Vernon Museum, Monet's House and Gardens, Bizy Castle and the Musee d'Art Americain (American Art Museum), opened in 1992 just a few yards from the house and gardens of Monet.
