ITINERARY (Prague to Budapest)

Day 1 Thu. Arrive in Paris.
Welcome to Paris! After checking into your hotel, enjoy the balance of the day at leisure to relax or start exploring the town on your own.
Three Night Stay: Paris, Hotel Sofitel Bercy.

Day 2 Fri. Paris.
Enjoy Paris’ famous sights during this morning’s guided tour. Visit Notre Dame Cathedral, see the Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, the Opera and much more. The remainder of the day is yours to shop or explore this amazing city. Its many museums, renowned restaurants, charming street-side cafes and night-time cabaret shows will not fail to enchant you!

Day 3 Sat. Paris.
A full free day to enjoy this extraordinary metropolis. Shop, visit one of the many fine museums, stroll through the magnificent parks - Paris has much to offer for every taste and style.

Day 4 Sun. Paris – Luxembourg – Trier.
We drive through the French countryside to Luxembourg, where you enjoy a tour of the city. There is time to explore Luxembourg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the smallest countries in the world. Continue to nearby Trier, where you board your river ship ms Amalegro. Tonight gather on board for a Gala Welcome Dinner.

Day 5 Mon. Bernkastel – Zell.
This morning arrive in the charming village of Bernkastel. Strategically located in the middle of the Moselle wine-producing region, Bern-kastel boasts over 500 years of documented wine history. Take a guided walk through the old town centre with its Medieval and Renais-sance buildings. Continue sailing to Zell, famous for its wine,‘Zeller Schwarze Katz’.

Day 6 Tue. Cochem – Koblenz – Rüdesheim.
This morning you decide - either disembark in Gondorf and take the included excursion to Cochem, where a guided tour of hilltop Reichsburg Castle offers fascinating views of the river valley. From here a motorcoach brings you to Koblenz situated at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine Rivers. Or, you can continue cruising the Moselle to its confluence with the Rhine at Koblenz and enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town. Both groups reboard the ship and cruise along the most famous part of the Rhine, past legendary Lorelei Rock. Arrive in Rüdesheim, the perfect example of a Rhine Valley wine town. Visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum and explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns and restaurants.

Day 7 Wed. Mainz – Heidelberg – Frankfurt.
Today, again, you decide: either disembark in Mainz and travel by motorcoach to Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest university town. Sightseeing focuses on the red-walled castle, where the great vat, an 18th-century wine cask holding over 220,000-litres, attracts particular attention. Then enjoy a walking tour of old Heidelberg and free time for lunch on your own. In the afternoon, drive to Frankfurt, the bustling metropolis and financial centre on the River Main, where you rejoin your ship. Alternatively, you can enjoy a leisurely walking tour of charming Mainz, hometown to the famous printer Gutenberg and the Roman ship museum. Then take a lunchtime cruise on the Main River to Frankfurt where you take a guided walking tour of the historic centre ‘The Römer’.

Day 8 Thu. Miltenberg – Wertheim.
Arrive in Miltenberg and disembark for a guided morning walking tour of this old Franconian town. On to charming Wertheim, famous for its fine glass, where you have ample time to browse in the market square before boarding the ship. The rest of the day, cruise through the sunny valleys of the meandering Main. Tonight, enjoy the entertaining Crew Show.

Day 9 Fri. Würzburg.
Today cruise to Würzburg, the ‘Pearl of the Romantic Road’. During your tour, visit the major sights including the magnificent Residential Palace. This afternoon, why not join an optional excursion to medieval Rothenburg. A walking tour shows you its ramparts and towers, cobbled lanes and 16th century houses. There is free time before returning to Würzburg.

Day 10 Sat. Bamberg.
Today enter the famous Main-Danube Canal at Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. Marvel at the Old Town Hall, the charming houses and 18th century mansions of this medieval gem with its uniquely intact townscape. Now continue cruising along the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg, where you arrive late tonight.

Day 11 Sun. Nuremberg – Prague.
This morning disembark after breakfast and enjoy a city tour of Nuremberg. See the 900 year old city wall, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. Continue via motorcoach to Prague. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the afternoon is free to explore the ‘Golden City’ on your own. Maybe stroll through a museum or gallery, wander along the banks of the Vltava River, relax at an outdoor restaurant or shop for local handicrafts and artwork.

Day 12 Mon. Prague.

This morning’s sightseeing tour reveals why Prague is considered to be one of Europe’s most attractive cities. See 1,000 year old Hradcany Castle, the Old Town, the Jewish ghetto and many other major sights. The rest of the day and evening are free to mix with the locals at Wenceslaus Square, stroll across Charles Bridge, shop for souvenirs or enjoy one of the charming cafés or restaurants..
